Development of artificial turf

Time:2019-12-05
From the initial nylon material to the later polyethylene material, artificial turf is getting closer to real turf, with better performance, more reliable quality and more diverse shapes.

Artificial turf has evolved from one generation to the third generation of artificial turf, using materials ranging from the original nylon materials to the polyethylene and polypropylene materials used today. Through the unremitting efforts of two generations of lawn people, the quality of artificial turf has been further improved, and the quality of turf is getting higher and higher.

In the beginning, artificial turf mostly used nylon (PA) as the main material. The shape of the lawn made of nylon is similar to that of a carpet. Considering its performance and economic costs, nylon lawns have poor elasticity, expensive price, and are extremely inconvenient to transport.

Later, artificial turf use polypropylene (PP) as raw material. The appearance of this type of artificial turf is similar to that of real turf. Compared with nylon artificial grass, polypropylene grass is relatively soft. The only drawback is the low tensile strength and easy tearing of polypropylene grass. Broken grass may be blown into the human respiratory tract by the wind, damaging human health.

Later, people filled quartz particles in artificial turf. The hardness of the quartz sand particles was strong and the economic cost was low, which increased the strength of the grass. This stage is a period of development and growth of the artificial turf industry.

The second generation of artificial turf is made of polyethylene as the main raw material. The second generation of turf is added with rubber particles on the basis of the first generation of grass , which greatly improves the performance of the turf and the elasticity and sportiness of artificial turf.

The third generation of artificial turf has been improved on the basis of the previous two generations. The first and second generations of artificial turf were mesh turf, and the third generation of artificial turf evolved into monofilament and mixed grass products.

The third-generation artificial turf has many shapes, has different functions, and can be used in different places and locations. For example, in order to cater to the overall aesthetics of the venue, grass yarns of different shapes have been developed, including straight, monofilament, curved, straight and curved.
