Let's first understand the cause of the odor from the insulating rubber sheet.
The abnormal smell of the insulating rubber pad is generally due to the lack of its original rubber content. During the processing, it is doped with recycled rubber, that is, second-hand rubber, which is made by using some waste rubber after secondary processing and doped with recycled rubber. The rubber plate has a pungent smell. What's more serious is that low-quality insulating rubber sheets will release carcinogens such as formaldehyde, aromatic amines, and phthalates, so you should avoid buying low-quality insulating rubber sheets.
The following describes several methods to remove odor from rubber sheets.
Activated carbon + deodorant. But this method can only temporarily relieve the odor of the product. If you want to effectively reduce the odor of the rubber sheet, you can volatilize low-molecular substances through secondary vulcanization.
It can be explained as such; any insulating rubber pad that meets the relevant standards will not have any odor, and only those inferior products from bad small manufacturers will produce odor.
So how to identify the advantages and disadvantages of the insulating rubber pad.
First, look at the surface of the pad. For high-quality insulating rubber pads, the surface of the product is smooth, shiny, and the color is relatively bright.
Next, distinguish the pros and cons by the smell of the rubber sheet. High-quality insulating rubber sheet has only a slight rubber odor, which is basically odorless. However, inferior rubber sheets have a strong pungent odor.
Finally, you can check the purity of the rubber sheet. Put a good quality insulating rubber sheet in the sun and observe that you will find it free of any impurities. Some thinner rubber sheets look more transparent. For those rubber sheets of poor quality, it is obvious that many black spots can be observed on the surface of the product. This is because a lot of impurities are infiltrated. Such rubber sheets should be purchased with caution.
